活(huo)性炭(tan)(tan)是一種經特(te)殊處(chu)理的(de)(de)(de)炭(tan)(tan)，將有(you)機原料（果殼、煤、木材等）在(zai)隔絕(jue)空氣的(de)(de)(de)條件下加熱，以減少(shao)非(fei)碳成分(fen)（此過程(cheng)(cheng)(cheng)稱為(wei)炭(tan)(tan)化(hua)），然后與(yu)氣體反(fan)應(ying)，表(biao)面被(bei)侵蝕，產生微(wei)(wei)孔(kong)發達的(de)(de)(de)結(jie)構 （此過程(cheng)(cheng)(cheng)稱為(wei)活(huo)化(hua)）。由于活(huo)化(hua)的(de)(de)(de)過程(cheng)(cheng)(cheng)是一個微(wei)(wei)觀(guan)過程(cheng)(cheng)(cheng)，即(ji)大(da)量的(de)(de)(de)分(fen)子碳化(hua)物表(biao)面侵蝕是點狀(zhuang)侵蝕 ，所(suo)以造成了活(huo)性炭(tan)(tan)表(biao)面具有(you)無(wu)數細小孔(kong)隙。活(huo)性炭(tan)(tan)表(biao)面的(de)(de)(de)微(wei)(wei)孔(kong)直徑(jing)大(da)多(duo)在(zai)2～50nm之間(jian)，即(ji)使是少(shao)量的(de)(de)(de)活(huo)性炭(tan)(tan)，也有(you)巨大(da)的(de)(de)(de)表(biao)面積(ji)，每克(ke)活(huo)性炭(tan)(tan)的(de)(de)(de)表(biao)面積(ji)為(wei)500~1500m2，活(huo)性炭(tan)(tan)的(de)(de)(de)一切(qie)應(ying)用，幾乎都基于活(huo)性炭(tan)(tan)的(de)(de)(de)這一特(te)點。
